Berry’s trainer, Peter Lee Thomas recently posted a video to Instagram, showing off the star’s top exercises for all-over strength, and her exercise tool of choice surprised us. The mom of two performed an intense gym sesh using just a cooling towel for equipment.

“To get the most out of this workout, it’s key to move with control rather than prioritizing speed,” Thomas said in an interview for Shape. “Slower is usually harder, faster is usually easier, and people do things fast to rush through them so they can just get it done, which can result in injury,” he said.

Plus, this workout can be done anywhere because it’s weights-free. Thomas says the workout was influenced by one of his fitness philosophies: “I just love the idea that you can get a whole lot with very little.”

A strong core starts with good nutrition

When it comes to nutrition, Berry swears by the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting. But while those dietary strategies can be effective for burning fat, they may not work for everyone and they’re difficult to sustain.

Instead, it’s recommended to focus on eating consistent, healthy meals throughout the day and not dipping below 1,500 calories daily. It’s also important to eat enough protein and fat, particularly when you’re performing rigorous exercise that builds muscle.

Halle Berry’s nutritionist, Peter Lee Thomas, has designed a diet plan that focuses on the food she needs to fuel her intense workouts and combat her diabetes. She mostly consume foods rich in proteins and snacks which often consist of raw veggies, such as carrots, celery, and cucumbers.
